About
AsOf is a temporal fact ledger.
Facts
name: AsOf
canonical: https://asof.is
description: AsOf is a temporal fact ledger: a structured, dated, sourced record of what is true and what changed, built for AI retrieval.
founded: 2026
unit: claim (subject, predicate, value, valid_from, valid_to, sources, confidence)
identifier: ent_ and the entity's slug (ent_google), resolving at https://asof.is/record/{slug}; cite the URL in schema.org sameAs beside the Wikidata QID (/identifiers)
rule: nothing overwritten. Superseded claims get an end date and a pointer.
surfaces: web pages with markdown twins, REST API, MCP server, open snapshots (planned), The Brief
coverage: search and AI first; tech, public companies, general to follow
license: claims are facts; descriptive text CC BY 4.0; Wikipedia-derived text CC BY-SAHow claims are verified
- Only checked claims are published. A claim is checked when its value is the source's own data, parsed (SEC filings, the Hugging Face API, official status dashboards, a publisher's own feed), or when one of its own source pages, read, states its value and its date, in a passage the claim page quotes. Claims not yet checked are held, not shown; the record would rather say less than say something it has not checked.
- Two independent sources: published with status valid (corroborated, not a guarantee of accuracy).
- One source: published as unverified and labeled so.
- Sources disagree: both claims stored and flagged. Nothing resolved silently.
- Two tiers of display among checked claims. Answer surfaces (the facts under an entity name, the state table, the home page, structured data, the MCP default, llms-full.txt, the Brief) show only what the record asserts: valid claims, or a primary source at confidence 0.7 or more. The rest stays on the record, labelled, in timelines, twins and changelogs.
- Primary regulatory filings (SEC EDGAR) and official status dashboards publish with status valid.
- A statement whose source gives no date is shown as undated, never with an invented date.
- Core facts (leadership, ownership, founding, headquarters, financials, names) are re-checked against Wikidata and their own source links on a schedule; a dead or disagreeing source lowers confidence and marks the claim for review.
- Corrections submitted below are queued for human review; we aim to review them on the next scheduled run.
